Changes to the leave entitlements of civil servants have been approved to be made effective as from 1 January, 2010. Line ministries are given a two (2) year transition period between 1 July, 2009 to 30 June, 2011 to clear outstanding leave from the current leave scheme. The new leave scheme is as follows;
Type of Leave Current Leave Entitlement (Calendar Days) Proposed Leave Changes (Working Days)
- Annual Leave 36 20
- Sick Leave (Out-patient) 42 days full pay & 48 days 1/2 pay 15
- Sick Leave (In-patient) Nil 30
- Maternity Leave 30 days 3 months
- Paternity Leave Nil 5
- Leave without Pay Unlimited 20
