“Government of Tonga sent Letter of Condolences to the Government and People of New Zealand following earthquakes”

Following the devastations caused by the earthquakes in New Zealand at the beginning of this week, the Lord Minister-in-Charge of the Government of Tonga, Lord Ma’afu has sent yesterday, 16 November 2016, a Letter of Condolences to the New Zealand Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. John Key, on behalf of the Government and People of Tonga.

In his letter, the Lord Minister-in-Charge said:

It is with great sadness that we have received the news of the severe earthquakes that struck New Zealand earlier this week.

At such a difficult time, we feel for the families and communities in New Zealand, as your Government continues to re-stabilize a country, in deep shock.

On behalf of the Government and the people of Tonga, I wish to extend my sincerest condolences and sympathies to the Christchurch community, for the loss of lives and the destruction caused.”
