“Hon. PM attends the 46th Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders’ Meeting in Papua New Guinea”


This week, Tonga’s Prime Minister, Hon. Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva leads Tonga’s delegation  at the 46th Pacific Island Forum Leaders meeting held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea from 9th – 11th September 2015.

The theme for this year’s Forum Leaders meeting is ‘Strengthening Connections to Enhance Pacific Regionalism’. Leaders will discuss key regional issues including climate change and disaster risk reduction in preparation for the upcoming UNFCCC COP21 meeting in Paris, information and communication technology, fisheries and consider a broad range of development and administrative issues.


The Prime Minister is accompanied by the ​Minister for Agriculture, Food, Forestry and Fisheries, Hon. Semisi Fakahau;​Chief Secretary and Secretary to Cabinet, Dr. Palenitina Langa’oi;​Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Va’inga Tone;​Chief Executive Officer for Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Climate Change and Communications, Mr. Paula Ma’u and the Prime Minister’s Personal Assistant, Mr. ​Po’oi Pohiva.
