“Hon. Prime Minister meets the World Bank Executive Director for Tonga”

The Hon. Prime Minister, Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva warmly welcomed the Executive Director at the Board of the World Bank Group who represents Tonga, in addition to Brunei Darussalam, Fiji, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Thailand and Vietman, Mr. Rionald Silaban on his first visit to Tonga at the Prime Minister’s Office this morning, Tuesday 28 June 2016.

The visit is an opportunity for the Executive Director to learn more about World Bank operations in Tonga and to gain a better insight into Tonga’s development progress.

The Hon. Prime Minister thanked Mr. Silaban and the World Bank for their continued assistance to Tonga and the completion of recent development projects such as the extension of Fua’amotu Airport.  They further discussed priority issues to Government such as Good Governance, Infrastructure, Transport, Tourism, Education and others.

Mr. Saliban will depart Tonga on Thursday 30 June, 2016.
