Opening of Pacific Island Development Forum Consultation Workshop

The Honourable Minister for Agriculture and Food & Forests, Semisi Fakahau delivered a welcoming address on the morning of Tuesday the 1st of August, 2017 at the Fa’onelua Convention Center for the launch of the Pacific Island Development Forum (PIDF) Consultation Workshop. Hon. Semisi Fakahau welcomed the Deputy Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Development Forum and participants of the forum. The Deputy Secretary General of PIDF expressed in his opening statement, “the purpose of this workshop is give effect to the decisions of the leaders’ of PIDF countries mainly PIDF secretariat conduct consultations in all PIDF member countries in the PIDF strategic plan climate, change roadmap and pacific climate treaty and to assist PIDF member countries establish a national sustainable development board in accordance with PIDF charter.” Participants of this forum will become the first members of the Tonga National Sustainable Development Board which is the first of its kind in terms of multi-stake holder forums.
