Pacific Island Students from Riccarton High School in Christchurch, New Zealand visited the Hon. Prime Minister

A team of pacific island students from the Riccarton High School in Christchurch, New Zealand visited the Hon. Prime Minister, Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva.  The group consisted of Form 7 students from the Riccarton High School who are of Fijian, Kiribati, Nauruan, Samoan and Tongan descent.

They were accompanied by two senior teachers of the school who explained that they intended to have an audience with His Majesty but the Royal Party was still away in the outer islands on the Annual Royal Agricultural, Fisheries and Tonga-Made Show.

The purpose of the Riccarton High School students visit to Tonga is to have a first-hand experience of the Tongan culture, meet the locals, have sight visits and enjoy what Tonga has to offer.  The team was very pleased to have a very brief meeting with the Hon. Prime Minister, Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva and to briefly learn of the historical background about the recent socio-economic and political developments in Tonga. The Team returns back this morning.
