Israel Government support football in Tonga by presenting Soccer Gears

8 February 2012. The Ambassador of the State of Israel to Tonga, Mr. Shemi Tzur, The Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Commonwealth of Australia, Mr. Yuval Rotem and Mr. Kevin Milstein, The Chief Executive Officer of the Regan Milstein Foundation are currently in Tonga to present football equipments from the Government of Israel to the Government of Tonga and the Tonga Football Association.

The presentation of the football equipments was made to the Government of Tonga which was represented by Honourable Sosefo Fe'aomoeata Vakata, Minister for Training, Employment, Youth and Sports. Subsequently, the equipments were further presented by the Honourable Minister for Training, Employment, Youth and Sports to the Senior Vice President of the Tonga Football Association and the Tonga Football Association.

The presentation of football equipment is the first attempt by the Government of Israel to support the development of sports in general in Tonga. Sport is recognised by Tonga Government and many families as a key sector for social and economic development. The donation will directly benefit football players, both male and female, that are participating in the sport of football in Tonga. The football equipments are worth about AUD$20,000 in total.

This initiative is a continuation of bilateral assistance of the Government of Israel to Tonga and the strengthening of the diplomatic relations between the two Countries.

His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Tupouto'a Lavaka, the High Commissioner of the Kingdom of Tonga to the Commonwealth of Australia, the Honourable Prime Minister, Lord Tu'ivakano, His Excellency Mr. Thomas Roth, The Australian High Commissioner, Government officials, representatives from local football clubs and football players were present at the occasion.
