“Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Mr. Houlin Zhao pays the Hon. Prime Minister a Courtesy Call.”

 

The Hon. Prime Minister, Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva was paid a courtesy call by the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU); Mr. Houlin Zhao at the Prime Minister’s Office this morning, Friday the 11th of March 2016.

The ITU is a specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs).   Mr. Zhao stated that his visit to Tonga is a great opportunity to witness how ITU’s continued assistance may benefit the telecommunication sector in the Kingdom.

Mr. Zhao has served as ITU’s Secretary General since the 1st of January, 2015 and wishes to pursue strategies with Government Authorities on enhancing the cooperation between ITU and the Tongan Government in regards to Tonga’s telecommunication sector. Mr. Zhao is ITU’s 19th Secretary General whose commitment to extending ITU’s community will surely assist Tonga through their different services.
