Foreign Exchange Rate


Foreign Exchange rates are collected daily from the three Commercial Banks in the Kingdom, the ANZ, MBF and Westpac Bank of Tonga from which selling rates are compiled into monthly, quarterly and annual average rate for converting into currencies of the principal Trading Partners of the Kingdom as shown on Foreign Trade Reports.

Notes: 1. Rates for selling and buying overseas currency are somewhat different.
           2. Above rates are Tongan rates of the quoted foreign currency.
               To convert  Tongan currency  into foreign currency - multiply by the rate.
           3. On February 11, 1991, Tongan currency (Pa'anga) changed the procedure for fixing
               the daily value from maintaining parity with Australian dollar (A$) to pegging it to
               a specially constructed basket of the currencies of Tonga's main external partners and
               quoting Pa'anga in terms of the US dollar (US$).
